Informativo Projeto França – novembro e dezembro de 2020
Quero trazer à memória o que me pode dar esperança. (Lamentações 3.21)
Salut queridos parceiros na missão! Atualizamos vocês com as últimas notícias de Lyon:
→ A pandemia continua também na França ←
Temos acompanhado com muito pesar o novo aumento no número de infectados no Brasil. Por aqui, logo após enviarmos nosso informativo anterior falando sobre o toque de recolher, a situação mudou novamente no início de novembro. Um novo confinamento foi instaurado na França! A situação seguiu se agravando e, inclusive, a região de Lyon foi uma das mais afetadas do país desta vez. Este confinamento começou com prazo estabelecido para 1 mês e, no início de dezembro foi apresentado o plano para à retomada das atividades nas diferentes esferas da sociedade. Um dos objetivos estabelecidos, para encerrar o confinamento e voltarmos a um novo toque de recolher, é termos, a partir do dia 15 de dezembro, no máximo 5.000 novos casos diários de covid-19 no país inteiro. Este número infelizmente não foi alcançado, o que significa que as novas etapas de reabertura dos diferentes tipos de comércios e outras atividades será atrasada.
Considerando os locais de culto, houve muita pressão da igreja católica para a reabertura dos templos, fazendo com que o governo cedesse. Então, no início de dezembro, os locais de culto foram autorizados a realizar celebrações, com medidas de distanciação mais rigorosas que aquelas em vigor anteriormente. Contudo, em reunião com nosso grupo de líderes entre os jovens, decidimos não retomar as atividades presenciais da Mission Jeepp pelo menos até o final de janeiro, após a data prevista para a o fim do toque de recolher. Mas continuaremos os encontros online. Isto porque consideramos a situação ainda muito perigosa e não queremos que ninguém se sinta em perigo participando das atividades na igreja. E nossa posição tem sido vista como um bom testemunho.
→ Onda de violência e atentados ←
Durante este tempo também recebemos algumas mensagens de pessoas preocupadas conosco devido aos novos atentados ocorridos na França, ainda nos últimos dias de outubro. Esta onda começou no dia 16, com o assassinato do professor de história e geografia Samuel Paty, em uma pequena cidade no noroeste de Paris. Depois disso houve um ataque em uma igreja católica em Nice no dia 29 de outubro, o que resultou na morte de 3 pessoas. E depois, no dia 31 de outubro, um padre ortodoxo foi baleado em frente a sua igreja, caso que inclusive aconteceu em Lyon. E, claro que com tudo isso, o alerta nacional para o risco de atentados em igrejas foi elevado. As igrejas protestantes são minoritárias e correm um risco muito menor por terem menos visibilidade. Mas é verdade que talvez esta tenha sido a primeira vez que tivemos receio de organizar atividades na igreja com “as portas abertas”. Finalmente, vimos esta necessidade de um novo confinamento por causa da pandemia como uma forma de proteção, e usufruímos de outras possibilidades de ser igreja sem estarmos presente fisicamente no templo.

1. Grupo de Estudantes e Jovens Profissionais (À PLUS) – Como já mencionado, continuamos com nossos encontros online. Por um lado, isso nos dá outras possiblidades, já havíamos mencionado em nosso informativo de outubro que muitos jovens deixaram Lyon nos últimos meses. Assim, temos tido nos encontros participantes que estão hoje na Holanda, em Taiwan, na Itália, no Brasil, além de todos aqueles que estão na França, mas não estão em Lyon.
Um fato marcante deste período foi a preparação em grupo de uma pregação para o culto do dia 22 de novembro. Utilizamos dois encontros para a discussão sobre o texto de Mateus 25.31-46. Depois, Florence ficou encarregada de concluir a pregação. Florence é um dos 4 jovens que participaram da formação à pregação proposta pela igreja de Lyon no ano passado, e esse foi um importante passo na sua capacitação como jovem líder. Destacamos que neste culto do dia 22 de novembro a Mission Jeepp teve uma importante participação (mais de 200 pessoas conectadas pelo Zoom) que estava sendo organizado de forma coletiva pelo Consistoire de Lyon, e tivemos 6 jovens da missão envolvidos.
2. Maison d'Unité – Alguns dos jovens da Maison d’Unité também retornaram para a casa dos pais no início de novembro. Aproveitamos para avançar parte do programa que é dedicada ao Curso Alpha.
Uma nova iniciativa que propomos para os jovens dos dois grupos durante o mês de dezembro é participar de vídeos no estilo “coral virtual” – pedimos para os diferentes jovens gravarem vídeos cantando e tocando para nos acompanhar em cânticos que serão utilizados em nossas atividades durante este mês. 3. Acompanhamentos e permanências – O sentimento de solidão ainda é muito forte para muitos jovens, por isso intensificamos o contato com os participantes de nossos grupos e temos marcado com frequência acompanhamentos por telefone ou vídeo chamada. A igreja ainda segue fechada para a realização das permanências nas tardes de segunda-feira, mas planejamos reabrir a partir do início de janeiro.

→ Nossos vistos: Uma ótima notícia que recebemos no início de dezembro foi a mensagem da prefeitura dizendo que nossos novos vistos estavam prontos. Assim, no dia 1º de dezembro fomos retirá-los, sempre com receio que algo pudesse dar errado, considerando todos os problemas que tivemos desde o final de 2018. Felizmente nossos vistos voltaram ao estatuto normal de “trabalhadores” (haviam sido mudado para a categoria “visitante” em 2019). O único problema é que se essa troca de categoria não houvesse ocorrido, em 2020 nós já teríamos direito a um visto de 4 anos. Mas, devido ao problema, em 2021 teremos que passar pelo processo de renovação mais uma vez.

Mission Jeepp Newsletter – November and December 2020

→ The pandemic continues also in France ←
We have been following the new raise in the number of infected people in Brazil with great worries. Here, right after we sent out our previous newsletter talking about the curfew, the situation changed again in early November. A new confinement has been established in France! The situation continued to worsen and, even, the Lyon region was one of the most affected in the country this time. This confinement started with a deadline set for 1 month and, in early December, the plan for resuming activities in different spheres of society was presented. One of the established goals, to end the confinement and return to a new curfew, was to have, as of December 15, a maximum of 5,000 new daily cases of covid-19 throughout the country. This number has unfortunately not been reached, which means that the new stages of reopening different types of businesses and other activities will be delayed.
Considering the places of worship, there was a lot of pressure from the Catholic Church to reopen the temples, causing the government to give in. Then, in early December, places of worship were allowed to hold celebrations, with more stringent distance measures than those in effect previously. However, in a meeting with our group of youth leaders, we decided not to resume Mission Jeepp's face-to-face activities until at least the end of January, after the scheduled date for the end of the curfew. But we will continue the online meetings. This is because we consider the situation to be still very dangerous and we do not want anyone to feel in danger from participating in church activities. And our position has been seen as a good testimony.

During this time we also received some messages from people concerned about us due to the new attacks that took place in France, still in the last days of October. This wave started on the 16th, with the murder of history and geography teacher Samuel Paty, in a small town in the northwest Paris. After that there was an attack on a Catholic church in Nice on 29 October, which resulted in the death of 3 people. And then, on October 31, an orthodox priest was shot in front of his church, case which even happened in Lyon. And, of course, with all this, the national alert for the risk of attacks on churches was high. Protestant churches are minority and are at much less risk because they have less visibility. But it is true that perhaps this was the first time that we were afraid to organize activities in the church with “the doors open”. Finally, we saw this need of a new confinement because of the pandemic as a form of protection, and we enjoyed other possibilities of being a church without being physically present in the temple.

1. Group of Students and Young Professionals (À PLUS) – As already mentioned, we continue with our online meetings. On the one hand, this gives us other possibilities, as we mentioned in our October newsletter that many youth have left Lyon in recent months. Thus, we have had in the meetings participants who are today in the Netherlands, in Taiwan, in Italy, in Brazil, in addition to all those who are in France, but are not in Lyon.
A remarkable fact of this period was the preparation of a preaching in group for the service on the 22nd of November. We used two meetings to discuss the text of Matthew 25.31-46. Then Florence was in charge of completing the preaching. Florence is one of 4 youth who participated in the preaching training proposed by the church in Lyon last year, and this was an important step in her training as a young leader. We highlight that in this service on the 22nd of November Mission Jeepp had an important participation (more than 200 people connected by Zoom) that was being organized collectively by the Consistory of Lyon, and we had 6 youth from the mission involved.
2. Maison d'Unité – Some of the youth at Maison d'Unité also returned to their parents' home in early November. We took the opportunity to advance part of the program that is dedicated to the Alpha Course.
A new initiative that we proposed for the youth of both groups during the month of December is to participate in videos in the “virtual choir” style - we ask the different people to record videos singing and playing to accompany us in songs that will be used in our activities during this month. 3. Follow-ups and permanences – The feeling of loneliness is still very strong for many young people, and that is why we have intensified contact with the participants of our groups and we have frequently scheduled follow-ups by phone or video calls. The church is still closed on Monday afternoons, but we plan to reopen in early January.

→ Our visas: A great news we received in early December was the message from the prefecture saying that our new visas were ready. So, on December 1st, we went there to take them, always with the fear that something might go wrong, considering all the problems we had since the end of 2018. Fortunately, our visas returned to the normal status of “workers” (they had been changed to “visitor” category in 2019). The only problem is that if this category change had not occurred, in 2020 we would already be entitled to a 4-year visa. But, due to the problem, in 2021 we will have to go through the renewal process once again.
