Salut queridos amigos, parceiros e irmãos em Cristo!

No nosso primeiro informativo enviado da França contamos como foi nosso primeiro mês por aqui. Como trabalhamos na implantação de um projeto em um contexto transcultural, julgamos importante mencionar alguns detalhes de nossas atividades para que você como nosso parceiro e amigo possa compreender melhor nossa realidade:

→ Durante o mês de Novembro de 2017 ←

• Voltando da viagem à Estrasburgo no começo do mês (01/11) fomos na reunião de presbitério da Igreja Luterana em Lyon, que colocou a nossa inteira disposição a utilização do templo para o Projeto Missão Universitária. Para eles, mesmo que o templo não seja mais ocupado pela comunidade com tanta frequência, é importante que continue a ser usado para o anúncio do Evangelho. Em Lyon existe esta única igreja Luterana, que está se pastor há alguns anos e, desde então, vem diminuindo gradativamente em número de membros. Mesmo com a união em nível nacional com a Igreja Reformada, a realidade nesta comunidade não mudou e por isso, eles fazem agora culto no templo uma vez por mês e nos outros domingos os membros que ainda restam frequentam as comunidades da Igreja Protestante Unida.

• De 3 a 6 de novembro fomos para Genebra com Marc Schaefer (responsável nacional da Igreja Protestante Unida pelos trabalhos com jovens). Fomos numa comitiva de 5 pessoas representando a Igreja Protestante da França em um encontro de jovens em celebração aos 500 anos da Reforma Protestante. Foi um tempo super proveitoso e também uma oportunidade de conhecer outras pessoas que trabalham com jovens na França e na Suíça. Ao todo o evento reuniu mais de 4 mil jovens.

• No dia 11 de novembro aconteceram os Sínodos Regionais da Igreja Protestante Unida da França e fomos convidados para ir à Valence, cidade ao sul de Lyon, para fazer uma curta apresentação do Projeto Missão Universitária no Sínodo da região Rhone-Alpes, da qual fazemos parte. Estavam juntos alguns membros do grupo de acompanhamento do projeto e pudemos falar da importância do projeto para os jovens que vêm estudar em Lyon. Além disso, fizemos alguns contatos interessantes e fomos convidados para também apresentar o projeto em Saint-Etienne, outra importante cidade da região.

• Dia 24 de novembro fomos ao OFII (Secretaria Francesa de Imigração e Integração) para finalizarmos nosso processo de visto. Passamos por exames médicos, um teste de francês e recebemos algumas informações para a melhor integração à cultura francesa. Além disso, teremos dois dias de formação civil que acontecerão em janeiro de 2018.

• Dia 25 de novembro, recebemos a visita em Lyon de uma comitiva de 7 Noruegueses da NMS que vieram conhecer um pouco da realidade das igrejas locais e também ver os trabalhos que a NMS desenvolve aqui – intercâmbio U-Crew com dois estagiários que trabalham em 2 comunidades diferentes e o nosso projeto.

Além dessas atividades extras, continuamos com as atividades que desenvolvemos regularmente:

• Reunião com a equipe Pastoral da região (onde nos interamos do que acontece nas igrejas em nível local e regional) - aconteceu no dia 17/11;

• Curso Alpha Campus (voltado para estudantes universitários) na Universidade Católica de Lyon, junto com o padre capelão da universidade, 1 pastor e 1 estagiário da Igreja Anglicana e mais os 2 estagiários noruegueses da NMS/U-Crew. Os encontros acontecem todas as segundas-feiras das 17h-18h30.

• Grupo de Universitários e Jovens Profissionais de Lyon (18 - 35 anos), que aconteceu nos dias 13 e 27 desse mês - das 20h-22h30.

• Visitas nas igrejas para conhecer a realidade de Lyon: neste mês visitamos 6 paróquias diferentes participando de diversas atividades: 4 cultos, 2 reuniões de presbitério, 1 grupo de jovens e 2 ensinos confirmatórios. E também conseguimos visitar um dos campus da universidade Lyon 2.

• E ainda tivemos dia 28 nossa reunião do mês com o grupo de acompanhamento (pessoas que representam as comunidades de Lyon e que nos ajudam a pensar o projeto). Nesta reunião, depois de termos já falado com a pessoa responsável pelo Grupo Universitários e Jovens Profissionais de Lyon (que também faz parte do grupo de acompanhamento) propomos de começar a realizar os encontros deste grupo todas as semanas e não só 2 vezes por mês como vinha acontecendo. Além de fazermos os encontros todas as semanas, propomos também de termos um tempo mais espiritual no grupo (louvor, oração e conversa sobre algum tema relacionado à fé) – já que o grupo só se reúne para comer e conversar. A equipe aprovou e começaremos a partir de janeiro 2018.

- Surpresa do mês: No encontro do dia 27 do Grupo Universitários e Jovens Profissionais de Lyon, fizemos uma noite de crepes e para a surpresa de todos nós estávamos em 16 pessoas, sendo que para 5 dessas pessoas era a primeira vez que participavam no grupo. Pode até não parecer muito, mas se considerarmos que desde que chegamos o grupo reunia 8 pessoas contando nós dois e mais os dois estagiários noruegueses, foi uma excelente surpresa! Acreditamos que os fatores fundamentais para tal feito tenham sido: em primeiro lugar o agir de Deus e também um pequeno esforço para divulgação do grupo. Isso nos mostra que os estudantes estão interessados e nos enche de esperança para colocar em pratica a nova proposta que faremos a partir de janeiro.

In our first newsletter sent from France we tell you how our first month was here in Lyon. As we work on planting a church project in a cross-cultural context, we consider it is important to mention some details of our activities so that you can better understand our reality:

→ During the month of November 2017 ←

• Returning from the trip to Strasbourg earlier this month (01/11) we went to the council meeting of the Lutheran Church in Lyon, which put at our disposal the use of the chapel for the University Mission. For them, even if the chapel is no longer used so often by the congregation, it is important that it continues to be used for the proclamation of the Gospel. In Lyon there is this only Lutheran church, which had some problems some years ago and hasn't had a pastor for some yaers and since then it has been gradually declining. Even the union at the national level with the Reformed Church, the reality in this congregation has not changed and so they now worship in their temple once a month and on the other Sundays the remaining members attend the other congregations of the United Protestant Church of France.

• From 3 to 6 November we went to Geneva with Marc Schaefer (National Head of the United Church Protestant for working with the youth). We were in a party of 5 people representing the Protestant Church of France in a meeting of young people celebrating the 500 years of the Protestant Reformation. It was a great time and an opportunity to meet other people who work with young people in France and Switzerland. Throughout the event gathered more than 4 thousand young people.

• On 11 November happened the Regional Synods of the United Protestant Church of France and we were invited to go to Valence, city south to Lyon, to make a short presentation of the University Mission Project in the Synod of the Rhone-Alpes region, which we are part of. Were together some members of the project follow-up group and we were able to talk about the importance of the project for the young people who come to study in Lyon. In addition, we made some interesting contacts and were invited to also present the project in Saint-Etienne, another important city in the region.

• On November 24 we went to the OFII (French Secretariat of Immigration and Integration) to finalize our visa process. We went through medical examinations, a test of French language and received some tips for a better integration into the French culture. In addition, we will have a two day "course" which will happen in January 2018.

• On November 25 we received a visit in Lyon from a delegation of 7 NMS representatives, who came to know a little of the reality of the local churches in Lyon and also see the projects that NMS helps to develop here: the U-Crew exchange program with two interns working in 2 different congregations and our project.

In addition to these extra activities, we continue with the activities we develop regularly:

• On November 17: Meeting with the region's pastoral staff (where we interact with the other pastors and get to know what happens in local and regional levels);

• Alpha Campus course (aimed at university students) at the Catholic University of Lyon, along with the chaplain priest  of the university, the pastor and the intern of the Anglican Church and the 2 Norwegian interns of NMS/U-Crew. The meetings are held every Monday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m;

• Group of University Students and Young Professionals of Lyon (18 - 35 years), which took place on the 13th and 27th of this month - from 8:00 to 10:30 pm;

• Visits in the congregations to know the reality of the church in Lyon: this month we visited 6 different parishes participating in various activities: 4 worship services, 2 church council meetings, 1 youth group and 2 confirmation classes. And we also managed to visit one of the universities in Lyon (Lyon 2);

• And on the 28th we had our meeting of the month with the follow-up group (people who represent the different congregations in Lyon and help us to think about the project). At this meeting, after we had spoken with the person in charge of the University Students and Young Professionals group (which is also part of the follow-up group) we proposed to start holding the meetings of this group every week and not only twice a month as it had been happening. In addition to meetings every week, we also propose to have a more spiritual time in the group (worship, prayer and talks about faith related themes). The team has approved the changes and we will start from January 2018.

- Surprise of the month: At the meeting on November 27 of the University Students and Young Professionals Group we proposed a crepes evening and to the surprise of all we gathered 16 people, and for 5 of these people it was the first time they participated in the group. It may not seem many, but if we consider that since we arrived the group had 8 people maximum (considering the 2 of us and the 2 Norwegian interns). We believe that the key factors for such fact are: in the first place God's action and also a small effort to spread the word of God. This shows us that the students are interested in the proposals and it fills us with hope to put into practice the new activities that we will start in January 2018.
